In celebration of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day 2025, The Gaming Board for The Bahamas proudly honors a small portion of the remarkable women who contribute to the growth and success of our organization. These women bring leadership, expertise, and dedication to every aspect of our work, from finance and compliance to licensing and professional development. Their efforts are central to shaping the future of gaming in The Bahamas.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Accelerate Action,” challenges us to act with urgency and ambition to achieve gender equality. While progress has been made, the pace of change is too slow—at the current rate, full gender parity may not be reached until 2158. It’s clear that we must do more, and we must do it faster.

As we celebrate the women of The Gaming Board, we recognize their exceptional contributions to our organization. Their leadership helps drive forward our mission of regulatory excellence, and their work sets an example for future generations of women in gaming.

We are proud to acknowledge the following women for their outstanding roles:

  • Anastasia Knowles – Senior Inspector II
  • Anya James – Financial Controller
  • Araphastacia Dailey – Clerk Typist, Office of The Secretary
  • Carolyn Romer – Data Entry Clerk II, Registry & Records
  • Delphine Smith – Facilities Management
  • Deltalee Russell – Manager, Human Resources, PD&T
  • Gena Brown – Senior Manager, Professional Development & Training
  • Gabriel Fowler – Inspector III, Casino Operations
  • Marchanell Dean – Senior Inspector I
  • Makell McBride – Senior Clerk Typist
  • Lynette Mortimer – Senior Inspector II, Gaming House Operations
  • Pamela Lightbourne – Administrative Assistant I
  • Veronica Taylor – Assistant Secretary, Licensing
  • Yvette Hall – Assistant Manager, Logistics

These women exemplify the qualities of leadership, dedication, and excellence that are essential to our continued success. As we celebrate their achievements, we are reminded of the need to accelerate action for gender equality, both within our organization and in the wider industry.

Today and every day, we honor these women not only for their contributions but for the example they set in driving progress and inclusion in our workplace and beyond. Together, we will continue to accelerate the change needed to create a more equitable future.
