NASSAU, The Bahamas — The Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the Gaming Board for The Bahamas signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, September 2, 2025, at the Gaming Board’s office. The agreement formalizes and strengthens the ongoing collaboration between the two agencies as The Bahamas prepares for its next mutual evaluation in October 2026.

The MoU was signed by FIU Director Emrick Seymour and Gaming Board Secretary Terah Rahming signed the MoU.

During the signing, Mr. Seymour highlighted that the agreement represents a commitment to deeper collaboration with the Gaming Board and other industry stakeholders in the collective fight against financial crime, both nationally and internationally.

Mrs. Rahming noted that the MoU comes at a critical time as The Bahamas moves toward its 2026 mutual evaluation. She pointed out that the FIU has been instrumental in supporting the Gaming Board’s preparations and emphasized that continued cooperation among regulators will be essential in the months ahead.

This signing builds on an already strong working relationship between the two agencies. The FIU has indicated that additional agreements will be executed with other regulators and stakeholders in advance of the Caribbean Financial Action Task Force’s (CFATF) fifth round of evaluations.

The Bahamas is currently compliant with all 40 of the Financial Action Task Force’s recommendations on Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and Counter Proliferation Financing (CPF). The MoU underscores the jurisdiction’s ongoing efforts to maintain this standing through enhanced collaboration and information-sharing.

The FIU, a government agency under the Ministry of Finance, is responsible for receiving, analyzing, and disseminating financial intelligence. The Gaming Board serves as a key regulatory partner in ensuring compliance and safeguarding the jurisdiction’s financial system.
